A Note From the Founder

Hi, y'all!

First off, if you're reading this...THANK YOU! This business is nothing without the support of our customers and their awesome pups, and we make sure to treat our patrons in a way that reflects that importance. You rock!

My name is Sam Toby, and I'm the founder of Big Dog Energy Company. I'm based in Chicago, IL, and on July 10, 2016, I did a thing...a big thing...well...a giant thing. I took home my first giant breed dog, a Newfoundland named "Auggie."

Little did I know, I had taken my last bite of food without a black hair in it. On the bright side, I am now the proud owner of several pieces of abstract slobber art (new paintings after every meal); But I wouldn't have it any other way.​

As we've gone through life's adventures, collectively wading through the fur and slobber, I noticed something. Finding products and services for a dog the size of a small water buffalo isn't easy, y'all.

Toys, crates, harnesses, treats, supplements, bandanas, groomers, vets...It's just more complicated than the experience I've had shopping for "normal-sized" dogs. The number of items that I've had to send back or re-home because they didn't size up is astronomical (weather boots are still a sore subject). We usually have our choice of one product...the one that fits...and toys that can survive this Plushy serial killer?! Forget about it.

That's why I decided to step out of my comfort zone (corporate innovation) and create Big Dog Energy Company, an online store devoted to meeting the unique needs of large and giant breed dogs. Our vision is to make shopping for your larger-than-life fur child hassle-free and convenient, allowing you to spend less time with your laptop and more time "in the wild" with your hairy angel.

Our shop is new, and as we grow, we hope to provide even more products and services that are big dog-approved (and owner reviewed). Owning a big dog isn't just a choice, it's a lifestyle...and makes you a part of a unique community. We're here to serve and advocate for that community in any way that we can.
